KARACHI: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali, has directed that extra-ordinary security measures be taken on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.
A police statement here on Sunday said that the IGP directed that a security plan based on concrete strategy be devised keeping in view the law and order situation as well as information obtained from the arrested accused.
He said that for ensuring writ of the law, in the security plan importance be given to the intelligence collection, information shared with other intelligence agencies.
The IGP directed that for the Eid contingency plan deployment be ensured at the mosques, Imambarghas, shopping centres, markets and conspicuous places as per the security briefing according to police range/zone/district.
There should be police picketing and `nakas’ on entry and exit points in the areas concerned. The snap checking be also strengthened.
Watchful eye be kept on the movement of suspects.
Security monitoring should be the part of the Eid contingency plan along with technical sweeping of Eidgahs, mosques, Imambargahs.
Plainclothes policemen be deployed for security duty.
Check posts be set up at the highways and effective patrolling be also ensured.
Traffic police should devise a traffic plan for smooth flow of traffic.
