ZURICH: The new president for FIFA, international football league will be announced in February next year. The current president Sepp Blatter will step down.
This was decided in the executive committee meeting of FIFA in Zurich. Blatter had been selected as president for five years in a row, however he had to resign from the post on charges of corruption, four days after he took office.
Blatter was embarrassed at the meeting when a protester showered fake currency notes on him.
Michel Platini emerged as his most likely successor. Other potential candidates include the South Korean Chung Mong-joon, the Confederation of African Football president, Issa Hayatou, the former Brazil international Zico and the South African anti-apartheid campaigner Tokyo Sexwale.
