CHITRAL: The government remains absent from flood affected areas, 10 days after floods hit the scenic valley, Aaj News reported.
The Aaj News team is the first to have reached the flood affected areas.
The flood hit the valley on July 16, during the month of Ramzan, and many of the victims spent Eid without a roof on their head.
An entire village has been swept away by the flood water.
The team reported that people of the valley are educated and hard working– but this strong community was now ready to break apart.
Lack of drinking water is their foremost problem– as people have taken shelter on the mountains away from the river to seek refuge from the flood. Often they have to walk as long as 8 kilometer to fill a bucket of water, the team reported.
The team said that no government officials had reached the site to help. However, the armed forces were engaged in relief and rescue work.
