LAHORE: Three more condemned prisoners were executed in different jails of Punjab this morning, Aaj News reported.
According to the jail sources, two convicts Tariq alias Tara and Aftab Bahadur were hanged to death in Kot Lakhpat jail of Lahore.
Reports claimed that Tariq had murdered a man namely Zahid and Aftab Bahadur had killed a woman and her two children in 1992. However, after settlement accord was presented, execution of another convict Ghulam Mustafa was stopped.
Another condemned prisoner Hashmat Ali convicted for shooting dead five people in a jirga, got hanged at Central Jail Faisalabad today.
A day after Taliban gunmen attacked a school and killed 134 students and 19 adults on December 16, 2014, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the moratorium on the death penalty. The innocent children’s killings put pressure the government to do more to tackle the insurgency.
