LAHORE: This month 8000 dengue larvae were discovered from Punjab, Aaj News reported.
In Lahore, Samanabad, Nishtar Town, Data Ganj Baksh and Ravi Town have been declared high risk zones.
The dengue larvae were discovered from Gujranwala, Lahore, Faislabad, Sahiwal, Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan. Out of the 8000 larvae, 4187 were found in Lahore alone.
This year nine cases of dengue have been reported in the province.
“We have tried our best on the government level to get rid of this disease, but complete protection is only possible if the public cooperates with the government,” said a spokesperson of the Health Ministry.
Every year before Dengue spread, the ministry asks people to not store fresh water anywhere. Public swimming pools and fountains are all drained. It is also not advisable to store fresh water in buckets for domestic use.
The dengue mosquito breeds in fresh water bodies.
