KARACHI: About 1,012 heatstroke patients were brought to Patel Hospital from June 21 to June 24 and hospital has still been receiving patients.
A statement of Patel Hospital said on Thursday that the management has imposed an emergency at the hospital and has created extra 21 bed especially for the heatstroke patients.
The hospital has cancelled leave of doctors and other medical staff and has increased stocks of medical supplies.
Most of the patients were brought to the Emergency Department in unconscious state, suffering from high grade fever with weak pulse and barely noticeable blood pressure.
Amongst the influx of 1,012 patients at Emergency, 74 patients were admitted for treatment and rest was discharged after first aid management. 27 people have died from heatstroke at Patel Hospital out of which 24 people were brought dead.
A total of 6 patients died on Sunday, 12 on Monday, 5 on Tuesday and 4 on Wednesday, the Patel Hospital statement added.
