KARACHI: The city bore a deserted look as business remained closed due to a strike called by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to mourn the alleged murder of its worker, Aaj News reported.
CNG stations, Petrol pumps and shops remained closed today in different areas of Karachi.
Exams in University of Karachi and Federal Urdu University were postponed. New dates for the exams will be announced later.
Exam scheduled by the Board of Intermediate Karachi have also been postponed.
Hyderabad, Nawab Shah, Mirpur Khas and Tando Adam also remained closed.
Waseem Dehlavi, MQM’s worker was taken into custody from Baldia area of Karachi along with his two brothers. He later died in custody at the Aziz Bhatti Police station, while his brothers were released from custody.
MQM official allege that he died due to police torture. A post mortem report released yesterday confirmed their allegation.
The four police officials who are accused of torturing Waseem to death were suspended and taken into custody till further investigation.
