A story published in the New York Times by Walsh has taken over the Pakistani media by a storm. The 3200-word investigative piece revealed how Axact, an IT-based company was actually running a fake degree scam.
The story got much hype as Axact was all set to launch a media channel by the name of ‘Bol’. The timing of the story was such that Bol was weeks away from going on air.
After the story appeared the Federal Investigation Agency raided the IT-based company’s offices in Karachi and Rawalpindi. They arrested their employees for interrogation, sealed the Pindi office, and confiscated their computer server.
Moreover, Shoaib Sheikh, who owns Axact and Bol, has been placed on the Exit Control List.
