The rupee extended its overnight decline against the dollar and euro on the money market on Friday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee drifted lower in relation to the dollar, shedding four-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 101.97 and Rs 101.98 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee also dropped by 10-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 103.00 and Rs 103.20 respectively, they said, adding that it also lost 50-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.00 and Rs 115.25.
In the final Asian trade, the dollar edged lower versus a basket of major currencies in the wake of unimpressive US economic data, with investors awaiting speeches by major central bankers.
The dollar index slipped 0.2 percent to 95.117, having backed off from Wednesday’s peak of 95.837, its highest level since May 5. It is still up 2 percent on the week, putting it on track for its first weekly gain in six weeks. The dollar war available against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.62, the greenback was at 3.5860 in the terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.1956 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The national currency remained under pressure and depreciated against the major currencies, including the dollar and the British pound, on the local currency market on Friday.
The rupee declined further by 10 paisas against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 103.10 and Rs 103.35 against the Thursday’s closing of Rs 103.00 and Rs 103.25. The rupee depreciated its worth against the pound sterling that was traded at Rs 161.00 and Rs 161.25 on buying and selling counter compared with the previous closing of Rs 159.50 and Rs 159.75.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
