Seven people dead as MI-17 crashed: ISPR

GILGIT: An MI-17 Helicopter crash landed killing at least seven passengers on board, Aaj News reported.

The dead include seven people including two Pakistani pilots, two foreign ambassadors and the Malaysian high commissioner’s wife and the Indonesian ambassador’s wife.

In a fatal incident the Pakistan Army helicopter crashed into a school building. There were 17 passengers on board including 11 foreign nationals, said ISPR.

Three of the injured have been transferred to the CMH Gilgit. The injured include ambassadors of Holand and Poland, Aaj News reported.

PM Nawaz Sharif has announced one day mourning over the tragic incident.

The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cancelled his visit to Gilgit as an army Helicopter crashed, Aaj News reported.

He offered his condolence to the deceased pilots and instructed the authorities to provide the injured with the best medical treatment.

Nawaz Sharif was supposed to visit the Naltara valley, Gilgit before an army helicopter crash landed.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also expressed sorrow over the horrific air crash.

According to the Army, the crash occurred due to a technical fault.

The death toll from the crash rose to seven- ISPR
