ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency gathered initial reports for the fake degree scam, which will be revealed on Tuesday, Aaj News reported.
Chaudhry Nisar, Interior Minister will hold a press conference today on Axact. Before the conference a meeting will be held to overlook the ongoing investigation.
FIA has constructed initial reports for the fake degree scam, the report will be sent to director general FIA which will be revealed on Tuesday.
While the case against Axact’s official is expected to be registered with in the next 24 hours.
According to the sources, the case will be registered for violating Electronic Transaction Ordinance 2002 money laundering and some sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Earlier, this week New York Times alleged Axact for providing fake degree. The report by the New York Times, which quoted former employees and analyzed more than 370 websites of fake universities, accreditation bodies and other purported institutions, sparked a wave of criticism on social media even as the company denied wrongdoing.
The NYT article cited clients from the US, Britain and the United Arab Emirates who had paid sums ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars for their degrees with some believing the universities were real and they would soon receive coursework.
