Nine Pakistani now part of British Parliament

The historic British Elections have come to an end and Cameron’s Conservative party won it with majority, including nine people of Pakistani origin are now members of the House of Commons.

Former Pakistani TV actress Tasmeena Shaikh is also one of those MPs. According to the reports, Tasmina managed to secure 26,620 votes, and won with a clear majority, represented the Scottish National Party.

Tasmeena is a solicitor and businessperson, and a former actress. Moreover, she is the founder and chair of the Scottish Asian Women’s Association.

Yasmin Qureshi of the Labour Party managed to secure 20,520 votes from Bolton South East.

Labour Party’s Naz Shah and Imran Hussain were also elected.

Meanwhile, Sadiq Khan of the British Labour Party was elected from Tooting by getting 25,263 votes.

Manchester’s Shabana Mehmood and Khalid Mehmood, Weldone’s Conservative candidate Nusrat Ghani, and Bromsgrove’s Conservative candidate Sajid Javed were also elected.
