The rupee managed to sustain its overnight levels against the dollar on the money market on Friday, dealers said. The rupee held the last closing levels versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.63 and Rs 101.65 respectively, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was also unmoved in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.50 and Rs 102.70 respectively, while the rupee dropped by 50-paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 110.60 and Rs 110.85, they said.
In the final Asian trade, the dollar nursed losses after yet more underwhelming US economic news, while signs that cash-strapped Greece was making tentative progress in securing fresh funding helped underpin a broad rally in the euro.
The common currency last stood at $1.0822, having powered up from Thursday’s low of $1.0666. The latest rally came as German Chancellor Angela Merkel said everything must be done to prevent Greece from running out of money. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.45, the greenback was at 3.5910 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.1976 in terms of the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee came under pressure against the dollar on the open currency markets of Lahore on Friday.
In the wake of fresh demand, the greenback appreciated its worth against the local currency and closed at Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.90 on the buying and selling counters though the pound sterling showed its worth against the rupee.
The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 153.80 and Rs 155.00 as against Rs 153.00 and Rs 153.25 on Thursday.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
