THATTA: Sub-national polio immunisations days (SNIDs) will be commenced from April 6, 2015 in 13 Union councils of district Thatta to ensure that each and every child below five years of age is vaccinated against polio disease which could be overcome through collective struggle of all relevant circles.
This was said by Deputy Commissioner Thatta Agha Shahnawaz Babar, while presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday to review the arrangements of the campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner said that district administration would take all possible steps for immunisation of children against polio disease.
He urged parents to extend full cooperation to the anti-polio teams so that the drive could be made successful.
The DC said the three-day sub-national polio campaign will be carried out from April 6 to 8 in 13 Union Councils of Tehsil Mirpur Sakro, Tehsil Ghorabari and Tehsil Thatto.
In this regard, all the arrangements have been finalised by the district administration and polio teams would go door-to-door to administer polio drops to around 84322 children under the five years of age.
SSP Thatta, Fida Hussain Mastoi in a briefing said that under an effective security plan police personnel would be deployed at sensitive transit points and adequate security measures would also be taken during the polio drive as well as police personnel would escort polio teams at sensitive points.
District Health Officer Thatta, Dr, Dawood Hilayo informed that 13 Union councils include 7 UCs of Mirpur Sakroo, 04 UCs of Thatta and 02 UCs of Ghorabari Tehsils.
The meeting was attended by the officers of the Health, Education, PPHI and the heads of other relevant departments.
