ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry wrote a letter to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, in the letter former CJP questioned the valid standing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in the Parliament from which they resigned, Aaj News reported.
PTI leaders are not authorized to enter the house following their resignations, wrote the former CJP in a letter. According to Article 64 of the constitution, if an MNA resigned from his or her seat the person is no longer has legal standing in the Parliament.
The retd CJP wrote that its Ayaz Sadiq duty to accept their resignations and make sure that the Election Commission of Pakistan conduct by-elections on vacant seats. PTI’s MNA resigned on August 22 of last year, since then no request has been made for their withdrawal.
