KARACHI: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) activists, belonging to Karachi, have urged Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) to ensure complete implementation of the code of conduct regarding by-elections on a National Assembly Seat, NA-246.
Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister, Rashid Hussain Rabbani alongwith Shahjehan Khan and Zulfiquar Ali Qaimkhani here on Friday said both the parties must take needed measures to prevent any untoward situation during their basic right of electioneering.
Direct confrontation among the activists of the two rival parties must be averted and for this they must coordinate with each and particularly see that their rallies are not taken out same time from same venue, said PPP leaders.
They urged PTI to ensure that the sanctity of MQM’s Martyrs monument is respected and also the fact be kept under consideration that MQM had been constantly winning from the constitutency for past three decades and that its headquarters is also located in NA-246 constituency, that makes the site all the more sensitive.
The two parties, they said must also keep into deep consideration that difference of opinion is the basic value of democracy under which tolerance should be allowed to prevail rather than misusing it as a tool for provoking the rivals, which might also prove an opportunity for those bent upon creating unrest.
