LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said the country is passing through a critical phase of its history.
He expressed these views while addressing the ceremony of passing out parade of the second batch of the Counter Terrorism Force at Elite Police Training School at Baidian Road on Saturday.
Shahbaz Sharif said it was an honour for him to participate in the passing out ceremony of the second batch of the Counter Terrorism Force.
He said the constitution of a capable and efficient force meeting the latest demands was the need of the hour to end terrorism being faced by the country.
He said: “We have given a practical shape to the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for constituting this force in a short period, the second contingent of the Counter Terrorism Force has come into practical field.”
He said officers and jawans of the Pak Army, Police and security agencies were writing a new history of sacrifices adding that the entire nation was united against terrorists.
With the grace of Almighty Allah collective efforts would be fruitful and Pakistan will once again become a heaven of peace, he added.
The chief minister said the nation had decided that the bloodshed should be eliminated from the country at every cost.
He said excellent achievements had been made in the operation Zarb-e-Azb and this operation had caused a huge loss to terrorists.
The Punjab government, according to the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, had constituted a most trained Counter Terrorism Force in Punjab which will play a vanguard role in the war against terrorism, he added.
He thanked Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Corps Commander Lahore Lt General Naveed Zaman, other army officers and friendly countries who extended cooperation and provided facilities in the training of Counter Terrorism Force.
Addressing the function, Inspector General Police Mushtaq Sukhera said the Punjab government had given practical shape to the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif of constituting Counter Terrorism Force.
He said 1180 corporals were recruited for Counter Terrorism Force on merit.
He said the second batch of 424 corporals of the Counter Terrorism Force had completed training of nine months and this force was being equipped with modern gadgets and weapons.
He said all system of this force will be completely computerized and 70 percent work has been completed in this regard.
He said five police stations of Counter Terrorism Force had become operational which will yield results soon.
Mushtaq Sukhera said Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has provided an all-out resources and guidance to Punjab Police regarding eradication of terrorism.
He said that a comprehensive programme of refresher courses had also been evolved for maintaining standard and capacity-building of Counter Terrorism Force.
He thanked the chief minister Punjab for encouraging corporals by participating in the passing out parade.
Provincial Home Minister Col. Retd. Shuja Khanzada while congratulating the corporals said the nation had great expectations from you. He said that the corporals had to face difficult challenges with courage and paid them rich tributes on their excellent performance.
He said the efforts of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for providing education, health, infrastructure and justice to the people were commendable.

people belonging to various walks of life attended the function in large numbers.
