ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Monday said the main accused in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case would be produced before a court in Karachi on Tuesday.
Talking to the media here, he said according to the investigation, the main culprit had provided all the logistical and financial support to the two killers and done all the banking transactions on their behalf.
The investigation and intelligence agencies arrested the person from Karachi today after efforts of one year, he added.
The minister said Dr Imran Farooq’s murder was not only a test for Britain but also for Pakistan.
The two persons, who were sent to Britain to carry out killing of Dr Imran, he said, were poor and lacked financial means to travel abroad.
He said Pakistan had been cooperating with the British government in the case. Great progress was made in the investigation on the basis of information provided by Scotland Yard.
The minister said a joint investigation team (JIT) would be formed to probe the case and as this matter had international implications so the federal institutions would also be part of the investigation.
“It is not a matter of politics but it is killing of a person and the Pakistan government has been making efforts to do justice.
The aim is not to take life of any body but to bring culprits to justice,” he added.
