KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that steps are being taken to improve the infrastructure of industrial areas, as their development is among the priorities of the government.
The commissioner, presiding over a meeting of industrialists at the office of the Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry, said Bin Qasim is an important industrial zone of the city.
He said that the infrastructure of Bin Qasim industrial area will be improved, traffic problems resolved and security arrangements made more effective.
He issued instructions for the repair of Mehran Highway, and said a letter has been written to the Administrator Karachi in this regard.
The meeting was attended by office bearers of the association and the officers of district administration, KMC, DMC, police, K-Electric, SSGC and representatives of other civic agencies.
The commissioner said a campaign has been launched to improve sanitary conditions and traffic system, adding that all the problems faced by industrial zones will be addressed.
Shoaib Siddiqui directed the KMC to complete the ongoing infrastructure development schemes in Bin Qasim industrial area as soon as possible.
The commissioner said the KMC has been asked to expedite work on Malir-15 and Malir Halt flyovers.
