ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday underlined the need of taking effective and concrete measures to weed out the curse of corruption from the society.
He added that eradication of corruption was imperative for attaining national progress.
The President was talking to Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhary, who called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President said that corruption posed grave threat to the very fabric of society and called for vehemently discouraging corrupt elements.
During the meeting, the Chairman NAB presented Annual Report 2014 to the President.
The President said that societies without effective system of accountability and transparency cannot progress, adding that elimination of corruption was crucial for progress and stability of a country.
He also called for creating awareness against the ill effects of corruption.
The President called upon NAB to adopt zero tolerance policy against corruption and fight more vigorously to obliterate the curse.
