ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that all political parties, including Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf should have the freedom to hold public gathering in Karachi.
In a statement issued here he directed his ministry to contact Chief Secretary and Inspector General Sindh Police to ensure the security of PTI’s public gathering.
He said if Election Commission deemed it necessary, Sindh Rangers would be directed to ensure holding of peaceful by-polls in NA-246 of Karachi.
The minister said that the treatment meted out to PTI’s gatherings in Karachi was against the democratic norms and traditions. If the situation persists the Rangers would be assigned the security of public gatherings with the permission of Election Commission, he added.
He said that prevailing situation in NA-246 was not a good omen for democracy and high values and no one could be allowed to carry out such acts.
