West Indies beat UAE by six wickets, edge towards last-eight

West Indies defeated the United Arab Emirates by six wickets on Sunday to put one foot in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Chasing 176, they reached their target in 30.3 overs with Johnson Charles making 55 and Jonathan Carter an unbeaten 50.

West Indies will make the last-eight unless the final group game between Pakistan and Ireland in Adelaide ends in a tie or a no result.

The United Arab Emirates were all out for 175 after being sent into bat in the Pool B match at Napier’s McLean Park.

Nasir Aziz made 60 and Amjad Javed 56 when putting on 107 for the seventh wicket.
