South Waziristan: Process of returning of IDPs starts from today

PESHAWAR: The process of returning of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of South Waziristan Agency will begin today, preparation has been finalized, Aaj News reported.

According to the Officials sources, registration of 41,170 people of 4,937 families have been completed and in the first phase, affectees present at Kor Qila area of district Tank will be repatriated to different localities of Serwekai area of South Waziristan.

Each returning family will be paid Rs 25,000 cash assistance and Rs 10,000 as travelling charges.

It is pertinent to mention here that over 400,000 families moved to Tank and Dera Ismail Khan due to Operation Rah-e-Nijat against terrorists in South Waziristan in October 2009.
