Soomro felicitates newly elected senators of PPP

SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator, Dr Abul Qayyom Soomro here on Friday felicitated the PPP candidates for securing seats in the Senate.

While talking to APP, he expressed hope that the newly elected members of senate would play their due role for the progress and prosperity of the country.

Soomro further said that the party lawmakers had showed their utmost loyalty to the party through which they had foiled the efforts for tarnishing the sanctity of the secret ballot and thus played a positive role for curbing the horse trading in Sindh.

He said the success of PPP candidates in the senate elections was the victory of democracy and would result in strengthening of democratic institutions.

He said that the elected senators of PPP, three of them including Saleem Mandviwalla, Rehman Malik and Islamuddin Shaikh were also among those who recently retired from the senate.

Malik and Islamuddin Shaikh became part of the Senate in 2009 for the six-year tenure while Saleem Mandviwalla was elected senator on November 8, 2012 against a general seat from Sindh.
