NEW YORK: Heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the United Nations, senior UN officials, academics and members of the Pakistani community attended a reception held at Pakistan House Monday evening to mark the Pakistan Day.
The well-attended reception was jointly hosted by Pakistan ‘s Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi and Consul General Raja Ali Ejaz.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s national flag was unfurled at the Pakistan House at a simple ceremony.
The ceremony began with recitation of the holy Quran, and as the green-crescent-and-star went up the mast, the national anthem was played.
Ambassador Lodhi read out the Pakistan Day message of President Mamnoon Hussain and Consul General Raja Ali Ejaz read out the message of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
The officers and staff of the Mission and the Consulate, who attended the ceremony, jointly prayed for peace and prosperity of the Pakistan.
