SUKKUR: Opposition leader in National Assembly (NA), Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah Tuesday lauded the role of Sindh police in eliminating terrorism from the province.
Addressing the excellence awards ceremony for outstanding police officers of Sindh province, organised by Sukkur Press Club here, he said it was a matter of great pleasure that performance of Sindh Police was being appreciated by common men.
He further said that the government should make huge investment to strengthen and equip the police with modern weapons, vehicles, bullet proof vests.
Paying rich tribute to the Shaheed Aslam Chaudhry, Khursheed Shah said late Chaudhry was one of the most courageous and honest police officer. Through his selfless sacrifices and services, Chaudhry Aslam infused a spirit of integrity and valour into all his colleagues and subordinates, he said.
Khursheed Shah further said that in order to provide civic amenities to every citizen of the country we have to control the growing population.
He called for learning from the experiences of world’s fastest growing economies like China, Korea, Japan and the basic pillar of China’s strategy that is massive human resource development adding that there would be no development if population was not controlled and resources were brought to an even keel.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police, Larkana, Saien Rakhyo Mirani said that the police is committed to make the interior Sindh a crime free zone.
He maintained that all the high profile cases of kidnapping and terrorism had also been successfully resolved.In most of the cases, the mastermind and others involved had been killed or arrested.
Even in the Shikarpur incident, the mastermind and a few other accomplices had been killed, he added.

Senior Superintends of Police (SSPs) Shikarpur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Kashmore-Kandhkot, including SSP Karachi East Syed Peer Muhammad Shah, SSP Irfan Bahadur, Jail Superintended Sukkur Prison Shahid Hussain Chhajro, Managing Director NSUSC Abdul Majeed Pathan, ASPs of the regions and prominent figures of the politicians, social workers and business community were attended the ceremony.
Earlier, Khursheed Shah distributed awards to SSPs Syed Peer Muhammad Shah, Irfan Bahadur, Saqib Ismail Memon Sajid Khokhar, Tanveer Hussain Tunio, Nair Aftab, Masood Bangish and others who showed exemplary performance in discharging their duties.
