ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday issued schedule for delimitation of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) for holding of future elections.
The Commission has also appointed District Election Commissioner Islamabad as Delimitation Officer and Assistant Commissioners Urban and Rural as Assistant Delimitation Officers.
According to the schedule, these officers shall collect relevant material like maps, population data and number of union councils by March 30, 2015 and prepare preliminary list of constituencies by delimitation Officers from April 01 to April 30.
Publication of preliminary lists of constituencies for inviting representations and objections and filing of representations and objections before the Delimitation Authorities could be made from May 01 to May 15, 2015.
The dates for disposal of representations and objections by Delimitation Authorities have been set for May 16 to May 22. Last date for communication of decisions of Delimitation Authorities to Delimitation Officers will be May 25 and final notification of delimitation of constituencies by the Delimitation Officers will be issued on May 30, 2015.
It is being mentioned that the Commission has proceeded on this exercise in light of the decision of the Supreme Court of March 10, 2015 in a constitution petition.
