KARACHI: Corps Commander Karachi Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar Thursday appreciated Pakistan Rangers Sindh for their commitment to restore normalcy in the metropolis.
During his visit to the Rangers headquarters, the Corps Commander said operation in the city ought to be continued till terrorism was weeded out for good, said a Rangers statement.
Director General of Sindh Rangers, Maj Gen. Bilal Akbar, briefed the Corps Coomander that an intelligence based operation was conducted at ’90’ and surrounding localities on Wednesday.
Presence of alleged absconding criminals, target killers, anti-social elements and hard core criminals, alongwith heavy cache of arms was confirmed through the information shared with the Rangers, said Maj Gen Bilal Akbar.
He said the Rangers also in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order arrested condemned-to- eath absconders, involved in target killings, from the identified site while weapons, including those of prohibited bore were retrieved from Khurshid Memorial Hall and surrounding offices as well as houses.
He said the arrested including 26 alleged target killers were presented before an Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) Thursday.
The killers were involved in more than 50 murders, he said.
