LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch Tuesday said that recent attacks on Yuhannaabad churches were an enemy’s conspiracy aimed at dividing the country and nation.
He was talking to the media after a visit to the Saint John Catholic and Christ Churches at Yuhannaabad and a meeting with Father Francis Gulzar.
Liaqat Baloch said enemies of the Christians and the Muslims were the enemy of Pakistan while peace and co-existence were common objectives of the two communities.
Liaqat Baloch said the burning to death of two Muslims at Yuhannabad was also a gruesome activity and the government must track down and punish those involved in that incident.

He demanded the Punjab chief minister to constitute a joint investigation team and a monitoring team for the purpose.
He was accompanied by Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, and minority leaders Shahid Gulzar, MPA Shakil and Pastor Shakir.
The JI central leader said terrorists had been targeting mosques,imambargahs, tombs, schools and security forces but morale of the nation was high.
He was confident that the nation would defeat the enemy through complete unity and unanimity.
To a question, Liqat Baloch said Pakistan and Turkey could play a mediatory role between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
He said that protection of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and the sanctity of Haramain Sharifain was a duty of the entire Muslim world.
Father Francs Gulzar said the visit of JI leaders had given new courage to the Christian community at Yuhannabad.
He said those responsible for the burning to death to two Muslims must be punished.
