588 held on renting rules, marriage, sound systems ordinances’ violations

RAWALPINDI:- City Circle police have rounded up 588 law breakers from different areas who were allegedly involved in violating renting rules, marriage and sound systems ordinances, wall-chalking ban and ban on kite flying.

According to a police spokesman, Rawalpindi City Circle police conducted special search operations and netted 75 property owners, tenants and hotels managers during March while 61 cases were registered against the accused on violation of Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance 2015 as the accused did not provide the required particulars to the police.

Action in accordance with the law is being taken against the rules violators under National Action plan, he added.

He informed that police also nabbed 50 persons for use of weapons and firecrackers at marriage ceremonies and on violation of Sound Systems Ordinance while 21 cases were registered under the relevant sections.

Police recovered five pistols, 19 rounds and fireworks from their possession.

Police also apprehended four on violating wall-chalking ban and cases were registered against them under Punjab prohibition of expressing matters on walls act.

The spokesman further informed, city police had started a campaign against wall-chalking and strict action in accordance with the law is being taken against elements involved in this illegal activity.

Meanwhile, City Circle police in its crackdown against kite sellers and kite flyers rounded up 445 violators and filed 88 cases.

Police also recovered 65,557 kites, 3031 kite flying string rolls, two pistols, 20 rounds and two sound systems from the accused.

14 accused involved in aerial firing were also booked during the period.

As many as 398 persons were sent behind the bars in cases of “awaragardi” and police registered FIRs against them under  55-109 Cr-PC.
