Dollar posted fresh gains against the rupee on the money market on Monday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee drifted lower in terms of the dollar, losing 10-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 101.80 and Rs 102.00 respectively, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, recovered its week-end losses versus the euro, rising 50-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 115.00 and Rs 115.25 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: The rupee inched up by one-paisa against the dollar, for buying at Rs 101.74 and it also gained four-paisa for selling at Rs 101.76, they said.
In the first Asian trade, the euro steadied as caution over Greece’s future persisted despite a conditional loan extension reached late last week. Euro zone ministers late on Friday agreed to extend Greece’s financial rescue package by four months after weeks of difficult and often confusing negotiations that held financial markets captive.
The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at Rs 62.21, the US currency was at 3.6405 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was available at 6.2551 in terms of the Chinese yuan. RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained weak against the US dollar on the local currency market on Monday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at its last week closing of Rs 101.80 and Rs 102.05 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. Because of fresh demand, the dollar was marginally improved to Rs 101.85 and Rs 102.10 on buying and selling side, respectively.
On the contrary, the rupee showed strength and appreciated its worth against the pound sterling. The pound’s buying and selling rates were declined from last Saturday closing of Rs 156.20 and Rs 156.45 to Rs 156.00 and Rs 156.25, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained strength against the dollar on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The dollar opened at Rs 100.75 (buying) and Rs 101 (selling) against same overnight rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 100.75 (buying) and Rs 101 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 152 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 152 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling).
