KARACHI: Holder Muhammad Shabbir Iqbal of Islamabad Golf Club gained complete control on the third day of 34th Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Golf Championship by gaining eight strokes lead at Airmen Golf Club on Friday.
Pakistan’s golfing ace was not at brilliant best on the day after carding 5-under par 67 in the second day as played round of one under par in the third ro round to end with the total aggregate of 207, 9 under par after 54 hole.
Shabbir made three birdies on the day which saw strong wind made golfers to struggle at times.
He faced problems at the front nine as he Shabbir double bogged on hole three.
His fortune struck on hole No 7 and continue through hole No 8 and 9. While on back 9 with 36 scored all pars.
Shabbir’s excellence left behind Matloob Ahmed to second slot.
Another top golfer Matloob Ahmed finished second with one under par 215 whereas Muhammad Afzal is occupying 3rd position with total gross score of 216.
In the Amateur event M. Sharif remained on top in gross category with gross score of 230. Zohaib Asif finished second with gross score of 231
M Zubair Ahmed, with gross score of 233 remained third. In the net category Zubair Hussain was first with net score of 212 while Muhammad Salman chasing him with net score of 218 for second slot whereas Ahmed Noman fetched 3rd slot with net score of 224.
In the Ladies event, Aania Farooq and Humaira Khalid were the leaders.
The young and talented Aania who has established herself as one of the best, was at the top in the gross category with the score of 80, Nida Haq fetched second slot in ladies gross category with score of 109 while Humaira finished ahead in the net contest with the score of 69 and Naghmana Atif remains second with net score of 71.
