ISLAMABAD: Upper House of the Parliament shall be meeting on Friday (February 27) to bid farewell to 52 outgoing Senators who are retiring after completion of their six-year term in the Upper House.
The 111th session of the Senate will hopefully be chaired by Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari who is also retiring from March 11, 2015 after being the Chairman since March 12, 2012 when he had succeeded PPPP’s outgoing Chairman Farooq H Naek.
According to sources in the Senate, the current session is expected to
continue for a week or so, as 52 Senators outgoing Senators shall complete their term and cease to function at midnight on March 11.
The House will take up routine agenda but the sources also stated that most of the time will be consumed to eulogize the outgoing Senators.
With the completion of this session, many important Senators from the
ruling PML-N and their predecessor in the government PPPP shall be retiring
including Deputy Chairman Senate, Sabir Baloch, a Senator elected from
Furthermore, this session will also end with bidding farewell to majority of PPPP Senators as some more important figures like Jehangir Badar, Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Rehman Malik, Farooq H Naek, Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal, Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq, Federal Minister Mushahidullah Khan and Pervez Rashid; Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Babar Ghauri, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Zahid Khan, Afrasiab Khattak and four Senators from FATA will complete their tenure.
