LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council will observe Protest Day against terrorism, extremism and sectarian torture on February 13.
This was stated by PUC central chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi in a meeting with a delegation of Tahafuz e Madaras e Dinya (TMD) here on Tuesday.
He said that Madaras and Masajid were cooperating with the government on National Action Plan even they had some reservation on it, adding those elements would be failed who were doing politics on madaras and masajid.
Ashrafi was of the view that some forces wanted to use madaras and masajid for their own political cause but these institutions would continue serving the nation.
He said that leadership and students of religious schools were cooperating with the government and Pak Army for elimination of extremism and terrorism from the country and this cooperation would remain continue.
He urged the government to adopt means of dialogues with responsibles of madaras including Tahafuz Madaras e Dinya and Wafaqul Masajid for all issues including registration of these madaras.
He appealed to the government to take action against those madaras and masajid which were involved in supporting terrorism and the nation should also be informed about them.
He said the leadership of all schools of thought appreciated the efforts of the PUC in Payam e Aman Conference held in Karachi.
Ashrafi said the government did not have any proof of involvement of any mosque or madrasah linked with WMP in any terrorist or sectarian activity.
He said the PUC and TMD would soon present a code of conduct for allied madaras and masajid.
