LAHORE: A meeting was held here on Friday between Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in which promotion of Pak-China cooperation and projects under Pak-China economic corridor were discussed in detail.
Talking to the Chinese foreign minister, the chief minister said Chinese cooperation for progress and development of Pakistan was highly commendable.
He said: “China is a sincere and trustworthy friend of Pakistan which has stood by it in every hour of need.”
Both the countries have always supported each other’s stance on regional and international issues, he added.
He said Pak-China friendship was higher than Himalayas, sweeter than honey, stronger than steel and deeper than ocean.
He said China had proved to be a true friend of Pakistan by helping it in the development of various sectors.
Shahbaz Sharif said exploration work of mineral reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa was also given to a Chinese company in a transparent manner which had discovered deposits of iron, copper and gold through hard work of ten months.
He said that Chinese cooperation and role in the exploration of mineral reserves in Punjab will always be remembered.
He said during the tenure of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pak-China friendship was turning into beneficial economic relations and new avenues of cooperation were opening in various sectors.
The Pak-China economic corridor was an important step towards strengthening of trade and economic relations between the two countries and will usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in Pakistan, he added.
He said 2015 was being celebrated as the year of Pak-China economic cooperation due to which the friendship between the two countries will enter into a new phase.
He said the people of Pakistan were waiting for the visit of the Chinese President as it will further strengthen friendly ties and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
He said China had made tremendous progress through struggle and hard work and become a great economic force.
He said the rapid economic progress made by China was a role model for the world.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China will continue to cooperate with Punjab in energy, minerals, industry and other sectors. He said China highly values its relations with Pakistan.
He said that Chinese people and government consider Pakistan’s problems as their own and were also extending cooperation in overcoming energy crisis in the country.
