Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said the democratic government would protect the country’s sovereignty and integrity at all costs. Addressing the ‘Colour Award and Re-equipment Ceremony of Karakoram Eagle AWACS Aircraft’ at PAF Masroor Base, the PM said Pakistan wanted peace in the region and believed in the resolution of issues hindering regional development and prosperity through peaceful means.
The PM said Pakistan always encouraged talks for resolution of disputes, however did not receive the same positive response. He mentioned that international community appreciated Pakistan’s amicable and peaceful intentions and was willing to support its stand point. He emphasised the tremendous economic potential of the region that could only be brought to fruition once peace and tranquillity prevailed.
The PM said the history of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was replete with acts of heroism, sacrifices and professionalism. “The PAF due to its feats of gallantry has made its niche among the comity of finest Air Forces of the world,” he said. The PM said the government was striving hard to save the nation from extremism, adding that terrorists were now taking last gasp. He said the government with the help of Pakistan Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) would purge the country of terrorism.
