ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Scienceand Technology strongly condemned the sale & purchase of haram edible items in the country and directed to develop mechanism to check the sale of haram products.
The NA body met here under the Chairmanship of MNA Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema and discussed the Calling Attention Notice regarding sale and purchase of haram edible items in the country moved by Ms. Shahida Akhter Ali, and other MNAs.
The Committee expressed its grave concern over the absences of mechanism to stop the sale of Haram edible items in the country and directed the ministry to take up the issue with all provincial governments to ensure that all edible items available in the markets are free from any Haram element, said a press release issued here.
The committee also discussed the budgetary proposals for 2015-16 and expressed dissatisfaction over the insufficient budget allocation for Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Committee was of the view that budget of the Ministry might be increased so that they could complete their ongoing projects without further delay.
The body directed the Ministry to come up with the proposals with minimum possible demands so that Committee could help them to enhance their budget.
Thereafter, the Committee deferred the issue till its next meeting.
MNAs, Syed Muhammad Athar Hussain Shah Gillani, Chaudhary Armaghan Subhani, Makhdoom Syed Ali Hassan Gillani, Shazia Mubashar, Nauman Islam Shaikh, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Shamas-un-Nisa, Sajid Ahmad, Mehboob Alam, Aliya Kamran, Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio and Engr. Usman Khan Taraki attended the meeting, besides officials of the ministry.
