KARACHI: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah will open the first National Folk Literature Conference being hosted by Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) here on Friday.
On the occasion launching ceremony of research literary journal “Karonjhar” will also be held, with known literary figures besides FUUAST Vice Chancellor, Dr. Zafar Iqbal and Chairman, Arts Faculty, Dr. Naheed Ibrar as the main speakers.
University officials on Wednesday said research papers will be presented during the second session of the moot with Sindh Education Minister, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro.
Prof Dr. Tahir Taunsvi will preside the research paper session while Dr. Nawaz Ali Shauq will preside the third session, titled as “Saghar Katcheri,” providing an opportunity to the writers, academics and researchers to debate upon developments registered and demands of time in context of literature across the country.
Sindh Minister for Works and Services and also a proponent of Urdu and Sindhi literature, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani was said to be the chief guest during second session followed by a musharia during which poets of different provincial and regional languages would share their poetry.
Prof. Dr. Nawaz Ali Shauq, Prof. Dr. Tahir Taunsvi, Prof. Dr, Nabila Rehman, Prof Sussan Brahvi, Prof. Anwar Naseem Mengal, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Sultana, Hairan Khattak, Fazil Raqeeb and others will present their work.
A folk musical programme has also been planned on the occasion, said the FUUAST officials.
