MIRPUR: Kashmir Council (EU) observed martyrdom anniversaries of two prominent Kashmiri freedom leaders Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru in Brussels, the capital city of Belgium on Wednesday.
According to press release issued here, a large number of people belong from various walks of life including prominent Europeans, Kashmiris, Pakistanis in Brussels and international journalists were also present on the occasion.
Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged in Tihar Jail of New Delhi on the 11th February in 1984 for his leading role in the Kashmiris’ on-going liberation movement and buried in the premises of the prison.
Muhammad Afzal Guru was second Kashmiri who was hanged and buried at the same Tehar prison by the Indian Authorities.
The speakers demanded the world community to stop atrocities against the innocent and peaceful people of Kashmir.
