ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Friday said PTI was determined to save environment and declared war against timber mafia in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
About Rs 100 billion worth of trees had been cut illegally in the province in the past 10 years, he said in a press statement issued here.
He said the entire Forest Department hierarchy had been suspended and their arrest warrants were also issued.
It was for the first time that so many senior officials in Kyber Pukhtunkhwa’s Forest Department were arrested.
“PTI will go for all those linked to timber mafia,” he stressed.
Imran Khan said environment protection was a PTI commitment,and it was acting on it by moving against the timber mafia and implementing a Green Policy.
“We will go after timber mafia to save our children’s future and our country’s habitat,” he added.
