ISLAMABAD: The recent heavy rain spell have exposed pathetic condition of various roads in the Federal Capital which require urgent maintenance by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The road from NDC to 7-Up Chowk along I-10 and I-9 area being used by heavy traffic has been extensively damaged.
“The entire road especially near Islamabad Railway Station and service road from I-10/3 industrial area to 7-Up Chowk is in a pathetic shape and several accidents have taken place, Naeem Ejaz, a motorist said.
Similarly the road from I-8 Police Station to HEC Chowk being used by all type of traffic owing to construction of Metro track on 9th Avenue is also poses serious threat to motorists because of big number of potholes and craters on the road.
Kamran Saeed, a private employee who daily uses this road informed that these roads turn into a pond during rains and the drivers cannot spot big holes especially in the night and as a result a number of accidents have taken place besides damaging vehicles.
Similarly, link road from Sabzi Mandi to NDC has also broken up and requires urgent maintenance.
A taxi driver also informed that the road in front of H-9 College is in deteriorated condition and said the concerned are not interested in its rehabilitation, being used by a large number of public and private transport.
When contacted, an official of CDA informed that maintenance of all roads is carried out on regular basis.
The repair and maintenance work of all these roads would also be completed as early as possible.
Meanwhile the residents of the twin cities of Rawalpindi Islamabad urged the CDA high ups to carry out patch- work on Expressway to check its break up, similarly they demanded of Rawalpindi Dvelopment Authority (RDA) to expedite rehabilitation of Airport road which caters to large number of vehicles which travel on it.
