ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal on Friday said that federal and provincial governments were working against those elements spreading extremism and terrorism in this area.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that civil and military leadership were on the same page for resolving the major issues of the country like terrorism.
“Pakistan holds the atomic capability and some foreign elements wanted to destabilize the country due to this power, ” he stated.
He said that United Kingdom and Sri Lanka had to face the similar problem, adding that Pakistan was taking measures to get rid of the menace of terrorism from this region.
To a question, the Minister said businessmen and other segment of society living in Karachi had observed that situation of law and order in this area after the operation was much better than before.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the present government was making efforts with the help of army and provincial governments to wipe out terrorism and maintain peace in all parts of the country.
To another question regarding suicide attacks in Peshawar prayer area, he said, “We can investigate the matter of involvement of some countries or having sinister designs for this region.”
He said that Pakistan wanted good relations with neighboring countries including India, adding that better ties were imperative for peace in the region.
The Minister said that Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan was also improving.
Replying to a question he said that Afghanistan’s new leadership was cooperating with Pakistan in rooting out the terrorists from this region.
