ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Wednesday said that ensuring transparency in the upcoming Senate elections was a major priority of the government.
“We want to stop horse trading and corruption and all political parties are being contacted to agree on a mechanism which ensures this, even if it is a constitutional amendment”, he said while talking to a delegation of PML-N legislators and office bearers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), which called on him here at the PM House.
The Prime Minister said this move towards greater transparency would be a big achievement of the government.
He said that the government was taking steps to end load shedding during its tenure. For this, he added, it has been decided that few key projects would be funded through PSDP (Public Sector Development Projects) in order to meet energy shortage in the country in shortest possible time.
Party matters related to KP province also came under discussion during the meeting.
The legislators and party office bearers apprised the Prime Minister of matters related to their areas, particularly those concerning development.
