KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has directed the district administrations to play their role in promoting civic sense among the people and encourage them through coordinated efforts to abide by traffic rules and avoid use of items unfit for human consumption.
The Commissioner presided over a meeting at his office here on Sunday to review the issues such as violation of traffic rules as well as fixing of sirens and emergency lights in private vehicles, wall-chalking, consumption of Gutka and Manpuri and Shisha smoking among others. The Commissioner sought weekly progress report from authorities concerned in this regard.
The meeting decided to make efforts more effective to control the consumption of Gutka, Manpuri and Shisha smoking.
Deputy Commissioner South Saleem Rajput told the meeting that he has finalised a plan to take action against the restaurants allowing Shisha smoking.
The meeting also decided to take action against publicity companies and individuals over wall-chalking.
The Commissioner asked deputy commissioners to launch campaigns for curbing violation of traffic rules.
