PESHAWAR: Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Naimatullah Khan Wednesday said strict action against illegal transport stands and rent a cars was on cards and vehicles plying on roads without licenses and permits would be confiscated.
Talking to APP, the Secretary said a crackdown was held due to public complaints as they were facing problems in smooth flow of traffic in city.
Nimatullah Khan said provincial government would be approached to select appropriate places for transport stands for public service vehicles coming from suburban areas to Peshawar as they create traffic problems at Hasthnagri and Firdus.
The Secretary said government was committed to provide relief to passengers following record decrease in POL prices by the federal government and comprehensive monitoring system has been introduced to examine the new fares.
He said transporters were directed to install new fare lists at prominent places and transport stands for facilitation of people.
He said AC flying coaches services have been started in city with a mandate to charge Rs 15 per stop from each passenger.
Nimatullah khan said registration of rent a cars to be started shortly and unregistered rent a cars would be closed.
He said a delegation of transporters of southern districts of KP led by Haji Muhammad Hilal met with him and agreed to reduce fares.
The transporters agreed to reduce fare of Peshawar Hangu to Rs 180 from Rs 180, Peshawar-Sadda to Rs 380 to Rs 450, Peshawar-Thall to Rs 250 from Rs 270, Peshawar-Kohat to Rs 100 to Rs 110, Peshawar-Kohat to Rs 260 to Rs 270, Peshawar-Karak to Rs 170 to Rs 180, Peshawar-Lakki Marwat to Rs 250 from Rs 300, Peshawar-Sari Nourang to Rs 250 from Rs 260, Peshawar-D I Khan to Rs 450 from Rs 500 and Peshawar-Tank AC to Rs. 450 from Rs 500 respectively.
