ISLAMABAD: Provincial authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), as part of their measures to implement National Action Plan (NAP) for combating terrorism and extremism, have so far conducted 3,486 search and strike operations.
Besides, the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in the province during last two months detained 8,624 suspects, recovered weapons including 2,525 arms and 53,782 ammunition and also 11.22 kg explosives.
A senior official while giving last two months statistics on implementation status of the Plan in KPK on Wednesday said the major areas of action were denying bases to terrorists in settled areas, snap checking, action against illegal Afghans, security inspections of schools, colleges and universities, action against misuse of loud speaker and action against hate speeches and hate material.
The official said under denying bases to terrorists in settled areas, 37,078 houses were checked with lodging of 1,045 FIRs while 10,545 hotels were checked and 210 FIRs were lodged during the period.
The authorities checked 6,141 number of snap check points and detained 9,153 suspects with recovery of 1,241 arms and 32,205 ammunition.
With regard to action against illegal Afghans, the official said during the period 3,593 suspects were detained and 1,907 First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged under section 14 F. Act while under security inspections of schools, colleges and universities, the authorities conducted 51,431 inspections, issued 43,618 advisories and 6,400 warnings and lodged 32 FIRs.
Under action against misuse of loud speaker, the official said 214 FIRs were registered with total arrests of 220 persons and seizure of 212 loud speakers during last two months.
Moreover, the official said the authorities also registered 50 FIRs under action against hate speeches and hate material, seized 111 hate material and nabbed 63 persons.
