ISLAMABAD: In a clarification regarding blocking of more than 40,000 identity cards in Balochistan, a spokesman of NADRA here on Monday said NADRA is issuing national identity cards in Balochistan irrespective of colour, ethnicity and language.
NADRA is implementing the same registration policy from Gilgit Baltistan to Taftan for all citizens.
The spokesman said citizenship of all applicants is verified by NADRA through the policy of registration and all Pakistani citizens have equal right of their registration.
The spokesman further said NADRA has so far issued 3.7 million cards in Balochistan while 42006 applications of registration are going through the process of verification which is less than two percent of the total cases.
He said after completion of process of verification, those persons whose citizenship is proved, they are being issued identity cards.
Applications and identity cards are rejected if a person’s identity could not be proved under the policy of registration or if he is a foreign national.
NADRA has rejected 1970 identity cards in Balochistan because their Pakistani citizenship could not be proved.
The spokesman said NADRA has complete cooperation of federal and provincial agencies in the process of verification and inclusion of public representatives in this process will be helpful.
