PESHAWAR: The first phase of nomination papers for Senate elections 2015 completed here on Friday as 33 candidate filed their papers for Senate polls due in March 5.
According to Election Commission KP, 17 candidates filed their papers for General Seats including Waqar Ahmed Khan, Ammar Ahmed Khan (Independent), Ataur Rehman (JUI-F), Haji Adeel, Liaqat Tarkai (Awami Jamhori Itehad), Sirajul Haq (Jumaat e Islami), Professor Abrahim (JI), Lt Gen retd Salahuddin Tarmizi (PML-N), Abdul Malack, Noor Alam (PPP), Khanzada Khan (PPP), Fazal Muhammad, Shebli Faraz (PTI), Salman Hameed Afridi and Muhammad Anwar Burki.
As many as seven candidates have filed their nomination papers for Women reserved seats including Fauzai Fakhruzzman, Sitara Ayaz (Independent), Bibi Shafia, Samina Abid (PTI), Ribbia Basri, Shazia Tehmas (PPP) and Shaheen respectively.
For technocrat seats, Abdul Latif Yousafzai (PTI), Abdul Malack, Muhammad Hamyaun Khan (PPP), Numan Wazir (PTI), Afrasaib Khan Khattak (ANP), Syed Sabli Faraz (PTI), Adnan, Javed Abbasi (PML-N) filed papers.
For minorities seats, James Iqbal, John Waliam, Ravi Kumar and Amar Jeet submit papers with Provincial Election Commissioner Musarat Shah who is the returning officer for Senate election from KP.
The scrutiny process will be commenced from February 16-17 and appeals against acceptance and rejections would be heard from February 20-21.
The candidates can withdraw their papers by February 25 while polling would be held on March 5, 2015.
