LAHORE: Police have arrested over 3,000 people and registered 2,600 cases against them during a campaign against wall-chalking, misuse of loud-speaker, publication of hate literature and etc from January 9 to February 28.
On the directions of the DIG Operations, police started a cleanup operation under the National Action Plan and seized 2,500 loud-speakers, amplifiers, books, pamphlets and CDs containing hate literature.
Police also arrested 90 people after registering 49 cases against illegal residents during the same period.
Police also sealed 17 shops throughout the city which were selling police uniforms illegally and arrested
Drive against illegal weapons, police arrested 846 people and registered 846 cases against them.
DIG Operations Doctor Haider Ashraf said strict action would be taken in case of violation of the National Action Plan.
