Bears dominated the currency market on Friday as the rupee depreciated against the dollar and euro, dealers said. The rupee dropped by 32-paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 100.77 and Rs 100.80 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee fell by 20-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 100.70 and Rs 100.90 respectively. It also lost 70-paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 121.20 and Rs 121.45, they said.
In the final Asian trade, the euro fell to its lowest level in 4-1/2 years versus the dollar, after the head of the European Central Bank (ECB) fanned expectations it would take bolder steps on stimulus this month.
The euro fell to $1.2035 on trading platform EBS, its lowest level since June 2010, and last traded at $1.2042, down 0.5 percent on the day. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.43, the greenback was at 3.5090 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.204 versus the Chinese Yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee maintained downward slide for another day and lost 30-paisa in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar was opened on a positive sign and kept on rising following fresh buying. The dollar was ended higher at Rs 100.75 and Rs 101.00 as its buying and selling rate against Rs 100.45 and Rs 100.70 of Thursday, respectively, the dealers said.
Likewise, the rupee remained weak and was depreciated against the pound sterling. The pound’s buying and selling rates were improved from overnight closing of Rs 155.75 and Rs 156.00 to Rs 156.00 and Rs 156.25, respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.30 (buying) and Rs 101.40 (selling) against same overnight rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.30 (buying) and Rs 101.40 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 159 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 159 (selling).
